Brief Workshop Description
In this hour-long Zoom workshop, Suzy will demonstrate how a variety of household items can be used in conjunction with paint to create beautiful and abstract painting effects. Participants can follow along to make their own masterpieces.
Materials:
- Paper to paint on, 140-300 lb recommended, such as Canson Cold Press Paper
- Some kind of nontoxic paint or ink such as watercolors, gouache, tempera, or acrylic paint
As many of the following materials as you like:
- Rubber Cement
- X-Acto Knife or Ulfa knife or Scissors
- Fine-Grit Sandpaper
- Cotton Swabs or cotton balls
- Candle, White Crayon, or Paraffin wax piece
- Spray Bottle filled with water
- Lemon or lime juice
- Tracing Paper
- Hair Dryer or iron
- Plastic Wrap/Waxed Paper/Aluminum foil
- Old Toothbrushes (clean)
- Bleach or White Vinegar
- Any kind of salt
- Baking soda/Baking Powder/Sugar/Flour
- Mr. Clean Eraser (original)
- Yes! Paste or Sobo Glue
- Brayers (used in bookbinding)
- Gift Tissue Paper/White Facial Tissue/Paper Towels
- White Pearl (plastic) or Kneaded Eraser
- Artist’s, Frog or Painter’s Tape
- Small Bar soap or Clear Liquid Soap
- Any other material you’re excited to experiment with as a paper treatment
