Whether you’ll join your fellow Blue Jays at Homewood campus or online in 2025, learning and experiencing college life doesn’t stop when you are done with class. Pre-college student communities are springing up around activities and events throughout the summer. Take a closer look at the ways you can make them your own.

The On-Campus Community

In-person learning at JHU is even more enriching when it is paired with a lively schedule of activities and excursions. Weeknight events run from yoga and rock-climbing to watching movies and creating art. The fun doesn't stop there, your weekends could include shopping, trips to museums, or an intense amusement park adventure.

Pillars of Student Success

At Summer at Hopkins, you benefit from co-curricular programming that is based on a belief that intentional development in the following three pillars leads to student success in higher education:

When you understand your own values, strengths, skills, and talents, you are better able to confidently face your future. You will be supported through workshops and programs that will help develop self-awareness, nurture healthy interpersonal relationships, and practice responsible leadership.

Participating in college access panels, lectures, and programming will assist you in decision-making related to your selected course of study and potential career path. These opportunities are meant to enhance your experiences in the classroom and allow you to better articulate your career interests in the college admissions process.

The Eight Elements of Wellness that permeate all student life programming at Hopkins place a priority on your well-being. This emphasis allows you to uniquely thrive and succeed in academic and social spaces.

Your On-Campus Experience

By choosing to live and learn on-campus you will have the opportunity to engage with Hopkins’ Homewood Campus, Baltimore City, and beyond. Enjoy getting to know your peers through karaoke competitions, arts and crafts, movie nights, and other events hosted by our Residential Life staff. In addition to these events, you will also have access to the Ralph S. O’Connor Center for Recreation and Well-Being and can participate in exercise and sports activities. On the weekend, you can enjoy exploring communities outside of the Hopkins campus by taking part in our signature Washington, D.C. field trip, attending a Baltimore Orioles baseball game, or going to the Towson Shopping Mall.

In addition to these fun community building events, you will be invited to engage with Johns Hopkins Undergraduate Admissions staff by taking a campus tour, attending an admissions information session, or learning from current Hopkins students about their collegiate experiences by joining our Student Success Panel. Other workshop topics will cover the Eight Elements of Wellness and offer you an opportunity to increase in self-awareness by taking personality inventories.

Your Online Experience

By attending Summer at Hopkins online, you will have the opportunity to participate in our Hop Online Workshop Series. This series is made up of six virtual workshops that allow you to engage in personality inventories and reflection, Hopkins Undergraduate Admissions information sessions, and content related to the Eight Elements of Wellness. While we encourage live participation in these workshops, we understand that you may be balancing multiple priorities during the summer and will be joining us from different time zones all around the world. For this reason, we will be recording each workshop and posting them to our Canvas Orientation page.
